Hosts on this site are not hiring. They are inviting. The application is not a résumé. It is a reason.
Write like a person who will actually show up. “I love food” is fog. “I grew up watching my grandmother fold parathas and I have never been allowed near a live tandoor” is a door opening.
What hosts are scanning for
- Specificity — this kitchen, this farm, this night, not “experiences.”
- Respect — you know they have a real service to run.
- Energy they want in the room — curious, not extractive.
What to skip
Follower counts. Job titles. Soft threats that you will “make content.” If they want a photographer, they will say so. If they want a guest, be a guest.
After you hit send
The host decides. You might get a yes the same day. You might get a no because the room is already a perfect six. That no is not a verdict on your personality. Apply to the next listing that makes your pulse change.
Need the mechanics? Read how it works, then pick a listing and write the sentences you would be proud to say out loud at the pass.
