How to write a why that actually gets you in

Hosts read applications between services. Give them one true picture, not a speech.

Your why is the whole application. Hosts are not hiring. They are choosing who stands in their kitchen or courtyard. Write like you will say the same sentences at the door.

A why that works

Name the listing. Name one skill or hunger you bring. Name one thing you will not do (no content shoot, no plus-one surprise). Example: “I want this Tuesday kitchen because I have only ever eaten your bread, never shaped it. I can arrive at 7. I will keep my phone away.”

A why that dies

  • “I love travelling and meeting new people.”
  • “I have 20k followers and can promote you.”
  • A pasted paragraph you used on four other listings.

Length

Five to eight lines. If you need a second page, you are auditioning. Cut until a host can read it while plating.

Then send. Edit yourself in the next application, not in a follow-up essay. Start from a live card on experiences.
